I agree with you now and here is why!
I was sick the past few weeks and my OB said it was ok for me to take tylenol cold and benadryl so I listened to her.
After 2 weeks of being sick I saw my regular dr and he taught me something I did not know. He said that drugs they prescribe are in class a, b, c, d, and x. Now a & b are the one only ones safe for pregnancy. Both tylenol and benadryl were class c. They do them my class if the benefit is greater then the harm and vice versus. I was very upset bc I had taken a whole pack of each.
Be careful with anything you take. Its your baby dont let anyone else tell you whats ok and always go with your gut. Your a mom as soon as you get pregant and good luck.

i wouldn’t take them either…when i first went into labor with my little girl..they stopped the contractions cause i was only 37 weeks and they wanted me to wait 1 more week..they prescibed something to me ( i forget what its called )..but it was to stop labor and i looked it up and saw all kinds of scary things that could harm my baby..i stopped taking it right away..i was sooo angry

if in doubt, dont take them. listen to your maternal instinct. try to see another doctor, find out what he thinks about the meds. nausea is normal during pregnacy, so is occasional headaches. no meds needed.
I don’t think your doctor will give you something to harm the baby just keep taking your pernatals and next time you see your doc ask him about what he prescribed you if your that worry

which dr prescribed them? OB or family dr. (my family dr wouldn’t see me at all while i was pregnant, if i had a cold i had to call my ob) All medications have risk, general if a dr prescribes something the benefits out weigh the risk, but always double check if you don;t feel !00% about taking it. (ask the pharmist too, love mine he caught a medication that had an ingredent in it i was allergic to).
DO NOT TAKE THE PHENEGAN OR THE FIORICET….docs prescribe all the time, but they can cause fetal harm…try taking a b vitamin supplement for the nausia…eat small light snacks (fresh fruit and veggies) throughout the day…it is important that the supplement contains both b 12 and b 6….although, it is only the b 6 that helps with nausia….without the 12, the 6 can deplete the 12 that you are naturally ingesting, so find a b12 and b6 combo supplement at your local pharmacy….this is safe for you and your baby….to avoid headaches, drink lots of water and get enough rest….if the throwing up continues or the head aches, it is simply something that is meant to be and although uncomfortable, it is not harming the baby.

ok if you can deal with the nausea and headaches than dont take anything. however i am assuming your dr did know you were pregnant, so it is probably fine. you can always call a pharmacy and ask them. i do know that phengren for nausea is fine though, i took it, and many people i know have taken it. i dont know about the med for the headache, but you can always take extra strength tylenole until you figure out if you wanna take what was perscribed.

DON’T stop taking your medicine. That can cause more harm than taking it. If you have questions about the medication you need to discuss it with your doctor OR consult a different doctor. Also, don’t ask us as it is illegal for us to diagnose or give medical advice.

This sounds like a questions that really needs to be answered by a professional. Sometimes pharmaceutical companies put those kinds of warnings on medication to avoid liability in a lawsuit, but the medication can still be used under appropriate medical supervision.
On the other hand, doctors do make mistakes, especially general practioners who might not have a lot of experience with OB patients.
My advice is this: try to find a pharmacy that is open 24 hours in your area, and phone them. Ask to speak to the pharmacist, not whoever answers the phone. Ask him/her about it. They are generally more knowledgeable than doctors about this, because it is their job!
Follow the pharmacist’s advice, whatever it is, until you can get back to your doctor. If you don’t trust him/her, try to see another one. Your pregnancy is just beginning. You ought to find someone you completely trust to see you through this momentous period of your life.
I was prescribed Phenegran for my nausia. But I was really severely sick, I lost a lot of weight and could not keep anything down. The med helped a lot. I have been to 3 different OBs because we moved out of country after I got pregnant and they all said phenegran was normal and I know other women who took it. Just do not take it all the time, it makes you sleep so you will feel like a zombie. You can also get a vitamin prescribed that will help with your blood surgar, that is what I am on now because they think it is when my blood sugar drops that I start getting sick.

its probably safe to take but make sure you ask the doctor if you can take them together because sometimes they forget what they prescribed. if you do continue not to take them trust me you get used to the morning sickness. you might get lucky and the sickness will only last a couple more weeks. i’m 22 weeks and its just part of my morning routine lol. good luck and congrats
Was this your OB doctor, or family doctor that prescribed this medicine? I always ran every medicine prescribed to me past my OB while pregnant- they are the experts. If the OB prescribed it, then I would have to decide if I wanted to take the medication or not ( unless it was absolutely needed, like antibiotics, etc.) If you have not seen an OB yet, its really time to get one.
In the meantime, try to relax and consider some other methods to safely treat your heaches and nausea.
Tylenol is usually safe in pregnancy- you can double check this with a pharmacist and OB. For nausea, I relied heavily on ginger ale and plain saltine crackers. I tried to not be without them at all during the day. I vomited a ton with my first child. I ate the crackers first thing in the morning— I kept them on my nightstand with a bottle of water- and drank ginger ale as soon as I got out of bed and off and on throughout the day as needed. Ginger can really settle a stomach.
Most of these problems resolve as you get into 14-16 weeks pregnancy, as your body becomes more adjusted to pregnancy hormones and some of the earlier hormones balance out. There are always stories of miscarriage, etc. but it sounds like you are watcing out for yourself and doing everything you can to protect you and baby’s health. try not to worry and get in to see your OB to address your concerns. Take care.

Take normal Panadol for headaches… Try and stay away from Ibuprophin (sorry cant spell), and neurofen, pretty much all pain relievers are bad for the baby. Just take normal panadol for the pain and for nausea I found that mints and minty gum helped with mine, (it increase the saliva in your mouth and throat so you feel less nauscious).
I used to work and a Pharmacy and also have been prescribed phenergan for nausea…Phenergan is safe to take for nausea during pregnancy but if you are really worried about it use ginger ale or peppermint for the nausea…I had bad and I mean bad morning sickness with this pregnancy but that was because I am having twins…But anyways i got so sick that I was taken to the ER and found out that I was severely dehydrated so they prescribed that phenergan…i only took 3 of the pills because I have 2 other Small children at home with me and The stuff knocks me out…I only took the phenergan when I was severely nauseous…but for the other times I would make gingerroot tea or drink ginger ale…But I do say go with your gut and if you are scared about taking it then don’t take the med and look for a alternative that will make you feel better (sea bands work great too)..
As far as the head ache med I am not entirely sure on it so i would ask your OB about it…When I would get Headaches I would just drink tons of water and lay down and that would help…

i wouldn’t take anything but regular tylenol. I know the dr. says there ok but sometime they don’t think because there so busy. Plus vomiting and headaches are part of being pregnant you just have to deal with them!!
